Since early childhood, horses have been an integral part of Anna Walker’s life. Raised by a mother with a keen interest in horse breeding, weekly lessons and horse shows were central to her routine and by her early teens in San Diego, CA, she was “A-rated” in Pony Club.
After high school, she studied fine art at Oregon State for two years, and completed a vet tech course at Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, CO. While in school in Denver, she taught riding at the Cherry Hills Village Club.
After graduation, Anna took on the position of Ranch Manager for Aspen Valley Ranch. This led to an apprenticeship as Assistant Trainer for Martin Klein at the Crystal Springs Ranch in Carbondale, CO. Raised in Austria, Klein attended the renouned Spanish School of Riding in Vienna. As his assistant, Anna showed with Klein in the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association (CHJA) A-Circuit, as well as the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) A-Circuit . Innovative at the time, Klein used his solid dressage background to improve flat work in his jumping horses. Anna continues to espouse the belief that basic dressage work is beneficial for all horses, regardless of their specific discipline.
She was then hired as Barn Manager/Assistant Trainer for Spring Creek Equestrian Center in Jackson Hole, WY, where she was fortunate to train with the respected "o" FEI judge Linda Zann. Spring Creek Equestrian Center had a 34-stall barn, an indoor arena, five outdoor arenas, and a cross-country course (up to advance level) designed by Captain Mark Phillips. Anna trained horses from Novice to Advanced and from First Level through Grand Prix.
